Your Value in God’s Eyes

Ephesians 2:1-9

2 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens, the spirit now working in the disobedient. We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens, so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $50 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $50 bill?”    Hands started going up.  He said, “I am going to give this $50 to one of you – but first, let me do this.”

He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked, “Who still wants it?”   Still the hands were up in the air.

“Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” He dropped it on the floor, and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked up the $50 bill, now all crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?”

Still the hands went into the air.   “My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value… It is still worth $50.”

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make or the circumstances that come our way.  We feel as though we are worthless.

But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value in God’s eyes.

To God, dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to Him. [Anonymous Story]
